Destroying your cache

If I am developing a site for you, this will entail changes to your site, whether the live site or the development site.

All browser use a system called ‘caching’ in order to speed up page loading. This is a store of recently used images and files so that when you browse a site you don’t need to repeatedly load the same files from the server every time you revisit a page.

Unfortunately, this means, when I make changes to the site, many times the changes will not be reflected in what you see and it is likely the page will not display properly. In order to see the latest changes you need to ‘delete your cache’. This is more less complicated depending on which browser you use and especially on a phone or tablet. Below are some common browsers and the methods used to delete the cache. You should follow the instructions exactly as, many times, almost the same procedure is used to delete your history and saved logins (which you will not want to do).

After clearing your cache, press Refresh and the when the page loads you will see the changes correctly displayed.
